Week of 4/7/08-4/10/08

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
4/7/08-4/11/08: Simple Still-lifes: Simple still life images were created when
the photographer noticed interesting shadow patterns being cast across the wall
of is study. and realized that it would make a perfect background.  Students
will utilize props i.e. glass coke bottles, used paint brushes in a container)
and create a composition that defines the art program at NHP 
3/10-3/14: Print photography  
2/27/08-3/4/08: Utilizing natural light and studio lights.  This week students
will capture Window-lit Portraits and participate in providing special
backgrounds and setting lighting fixtures utilized in studios for portaits.
Photo student will be photographed for each project. 
2/25/08-2/29/08: Depth of Field Activity
2/19/08-2/22/08: Students will continue experiment with shutter speed; zooming
-in and -out, understanding exposure times and utilizing shutter speed.   

Students will complete a photographic essay based on a theme of their choice
with the approval of the instructor.  The photo essay will be collected in
personal student portfolio.  Student photography will also be on display on
campus and published on the internet.  Ultimately, selected photography will be
on display on the day of the annual north hills Preparatory Art Show.

-Simple back drops, such as a
linen sheet.  Bend the fabric.

TUESDAY
The class will brain storm a

-Lighting.  
-Day light flooding in through
the windows of the classroom.
-Diffused light used form an
over cast day.
-Use of translucent objects
i.e. class bottles, food coloring.

LONG-TERM ASSIGNMENTS AND PROJECTS
Photo essay
Students assignments include responding to works of art, objects in nature,
cultural event, the urban environment. Subjects include: landscape, still life,
response, self portrait, architecture, movement, emotion, in-the-moment, and
learning the history of photography as a medium in contemporary life.
