GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The student will learn the art and discipline of songwriting by composing and recording his/her own songs. Creating song lyrics, using musical devices to create songs(2.6) and composition/arrangement of songs for various instruments(2.7) will be covered. Other items deemed pertinent to the craft will be introduced by the instructors as needed.

LONG-TERM ASSIGNMENTS AND PROJECTS

The long term goal of this class is our semi-annual CD. For the first several weeks, the students will be coming with song ideas and shaping them into various song forms. Song re-writing, pre-production and recording workshops/labs follow soon after.
